UFC Targeting Summer Date For Junior Dos Santos-Alistair Overeem

UFC Targeting Summer Date For Junior Dos Santos-Alistair Overeem If all goes as planned, the UFC is hoping to have heavyweights Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem lock horns inside the Octagon sometime over the summer, according to UFC president Dana White during an interview Tuesday night for UFC Tonight. The show debuted on FUEL TV and will be a fixture on the network going forward.

"Hopefully this summer," White said (thanks to MMAjunkie.com for transcribing). "This summer is probably when it's going to go down. Alistair wants to take some time off. Dos Santos is ready, but needs to get some training in. So hopefully, this summer."

Overeem secured his shot at the UFC heavyweight title when he defeated Brock Lesnar at UFC 141. Overeem is a former Strikeforce, DREAM and K-1 world champion.

As for dos Santos, he has been recovering from a knee injury suffered in training prior to his world-title victory over Cain Velasquez.
